The karanji is a very popular snack from India, mainly in the state of Maharashtra. The snack is essentially a dough which holds a filling. The filling can be either sweet or savoury. Two of the more popular fillings are peas, and the other is a sweet dry coconut filling. This snack is very popular during the time of Diwali and is part of the traditional feast of “pharal”.
